Fundraising Concert Review (Posted 07.03.07)
German Love Songs might not be the first thing you think of associated with a Mediaeval church at this critical juncture in its history but Stornoway Singer's performance of Johannes Braham's Leibesleider Waltzes was kept on track byadoptive Rudhaich, Heuco and Elfie Rank and Barbara Zlism.
Urras Eaglais Na H-Aoidhe would like to thank Stornoway Singers and their conductor, Douglas Leadbitter also Douglas Leadbitter, Rosemary Cleave and Heuco Rank for their piano duets accompanying the choir and the two soprano soloists Ruth Macgregor and Elfie Rank who performed several Leider by both Brahams and Schubert .The performance was aided by the resonant acoustic of Aird School Hall and was followed by excellent cheese and wine served in the glass foyer of the community centre. This would be an excellent venue for a similar concert later in the year by other Point-connected artistes possibly including Ishbel Macaskill
